Assisted Reproductive Treatment BankART Banks are boon to couples who otherwise cannot conceive using their own gametes either due to complete absence of gametes or due to lack of healthy gametes.
IFH has a licenced ART bank which is registered with the NationalART Authority (NAA) of India. All donors are registered with the National Registry within one month of enrolment.
We conduct screening, collection and registration of consenting semen& egg donors and cryopreserve (freeze) semen samples at our centre for the treatment of recepients. Donor gametes can be stored for a duration maximum of 10 years and on expiry of the duration, the gametes will be allowed to perish or donated to a research organization with consent of the individual.
The eligibility criteria for gamete donation are:
- A semen donor should be between 21 to 55 years of age and an egg donor should be between 23 to 35 years of age. They should not have any personal or family history of congenital, familial or hereditary disease.
- Donors should be medically tested negative for 4 diseases as listed below:
- HIV
- HbSAg
- VDRL
- HCV
We ensure that the information regarding the Donor is kept confidential and information about treatment is not disclosed to anyone except to the National Registry.
All rules and regulations laid out by the ART bill 2021 pertaining to egg and semen donors are followed strictly at our centre.
The couple buys general health insurance coverage in favor of the egg donor for a period of at least one year and from a company or an agent recognized by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority. The amount should be sufficient enough to cover all the expenses which might be needed in case of any complications while egg retrieval. Also, the couple needs to sign an affidavit which must be sworn before a Metropolitan Magistrate ora Judicial Magistrate giving a guarantee.
