IVF is a technique in whichfirst the woman’s ovaries are stimulated with the help of hormone injections to produce more than one egg (Ovarian Simulation). Following this the mature eggs are collected and mixed with the sperm of the male partner in the laboratory. These eggs are thenkept in the incubator for a few days and then one or two of the resulting embryos are transferred into the woman’s womb.(Fertilized eggs that have started to develop are called embryos). If an embryo successfully attaches to the inside of the womb and continues to grow, the result is a pregnancy.
